Registrar’s Message

May I take this opportunity to extend a warm welcome to you!  Congratulations on making a very positive choice in becoming a trainee at Kenya Coast National Polytechnic (KCNP).

The Office of the Registrar is responsible for planning and conducting student admissions, accurately maintaining, updating and protecting trainees’ academic records, marketing of programmes and administration of examinations among other duties.  Our primary objective is to enrich and support trainees in their endeavour towards attainment of skills and knowledge to apply these skills in coherence with their aims and ambitions.

The Registrar’s Office at present is made up of the following staff:

  • Registrar,
  • Deputy Registrar – Admissions,
  • Deputy Registrar – Examinations,
  • Deputy Examinations Officer, and
  • Support Staff.

The Office of the Registrar is committed to enhancing a culture of high performance and improving the trainee experience.  Our team has specialised expertise within service areas including enrolment and maintenance of academic records.  The team is constantly exploring ways to improve our services and we would welcome constructive suggestions from you on how we can improve our service to you.

The Polytechnic is duly registered by TVETA as required by the TVET Act, 2013; registration number: TVETA/PUBLIC/NP/0002/2016.   Our programmes are therefore accredited by TVETA.

KCNP admits both Government Sponsored and Self-Sponsored trainees. The Government Sponsored trainees are placed at the Polytechnic by the Kenya University and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).  Prospective trainees under Government Sponsorship can apply for our programmes through KUCCPS.

Self-sponsored trainees are required to make applications directly to the Polytechnic by completing the application forms that can be obtained at the Polytechnic or online on our website.

We work closely with other Government agencies such as; the Kenya University and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA), Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), among others, to ensure that the Polytechnic aligns itself to the various statutory requirements and policies.
