The Kenya Coast National Polytechnic has a rich history stretching from its humble beginnings in 1950 when it was first established as a Coast Technical High School to the current status in September 2016. The Human Resource Department was established in October 2018.
The Department is managed by two personnel; Ms Bernadetta Chao Juma and Mr Sebastian Chirume who are members of IHRM.
The department also has the responsibility to ensure that Polytechnic attracts and recruit individual who are qualified and who can be trained to perform work in a manner that will contribute to the attainment of the objectives of the polytechnic.
The Human Resource department is also committed to provide all staff a stable work environment with equal opportunity of learning and personal growth.
The department is also committed to perform the following duties on behalf of the Polytechnic:
- Recruitment and selection of new staff
- Orientation and staff induction
- Training and development of staff capacity
- Maintenance and updating of staff records
- Managing employee relation matters.
- Implementation of HR policies
- Workers’ welfare
- Reward Management
