Ms. Getrude Mutie
World over, the objective of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is to provide quality training to youth for the world of work. Kenya Coast National Polytechnic (KCNP) has enshrined quality as one of its beacons in the development and implementation of training programs. This is done through close reference to the guidelines by the TVET Act, 2013 and Technical and Vocational Training Authority (TVETA), which is the rational body charged with responsibility of standardization of technical training in Kenya
The KCNP is highly committed to quality training and it constantly maintains its training standards and trainees’ learning experience. In 2021, the polytechnic established the Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) committee within the Chief Principal`s office to coordinate quality assurance, quality control, and quality enhancement activities. The IQA committee has formulated an operational internal quality assurance policy that instils a culture of quality assurance across the polytechnic systems. This enables the institution to sustainably offer quality products and services while maintaining compliance with various stakeholder requirements.
Quality Assurance at KCNP is be guided by KNTVET-QAF which includes TVET governance, industry Cooperation, CBET, KNQF, TVET Quality standards, TVET delivery & assessment as well as research and cooperation. Over the years, emphasis has mainly been on controlling inputs, while attention needs to be given to the processes and outcomes (graduates).
